Interim govt vows to act with people’s support against disruptive activities

The interim government on Saturday said it will take the necessary decisions together with the people of the country if there are any activities that hinder its normal functioning and make it impossible to fulfill its responsibilities.

“The interim government upholds the public expectations of the July Uprising,” said the Council of Advisers in a statement, noting the government’s uniqueness and its responsibility towards reform initiatives, judicial process and fair elections.

If the government is made unable to fulfill its responsibilities due to the influence of defeated forces and as part of a foreign conspiracy, the government will raise all the reasons in public and take the next decision, said the government.

The Council of Advisers believes that greater unity is needed to keep the country stable, advance the election, justice and reform works and permanently prevent the arrival of dictatorship in this country, said the statement shared by the Chief Adviser’s press wing.

The interim government will listen to the statements of political parties in this regard and clarify the government's position.

An unscheduled meeting of the Council of Advisers was held on Saturday, after the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) meeting.

The meeting was held at the Planning Commission in the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar with Chief Adviser Prof Yunus in the chair.

The meeting discussed in detail the three main responsibilities - elections, reforms and justice - assigned to the interim government.

The meeting elaborately discussed how the normal working environment is being disrupted and doubts and suspicions are being created in the public mind by making various unreasonable demands, motivated and extrajudicial statements and programmes in the discharge of these responsibilities.

Despite hundreds of obstacles, the interim government is fulfilling its responsibilities, ignoring group interests, said the statement.
