BNP’s youth rally turns Nayapaltan into a sea of people
What began as a youth-focused political gathering transformed into a massive rally as thousands of BNP activists and supporters, particularly young participants, flooded into the area around the party’s central office in Nayapaltan on Wednesday.
The rally officially began at 2:00pm, though by late morning, the area stretching from Kakrail to Arambagh had already transformed into a vibrant assembly ground. Chants, slogans and the rhythmic sounds of political songs reverberated through the streets, creating an electric atmosphere.
Roads from Mouchak, Shantinagar, Shahjahanpur, Matsya Bhaban and Fakirapool became virtually impassable due to the sheer number of attendees.
Key routes including those around Kakrail Mosque and the Scout Building were packed as supporters moved en masse towards the rally point.
Leaders and activists from BNP’s affiliated organisations -- Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal and Swechchhasebak Dal --joined in with colour-coded caps and banners, proudly displaying the party’s logos.
The rally commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by the national and party anthems.
Supporters came in from various parts of the country, including Gazipur, Narayanganj, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Faridpur and beyond. Many arrived in buses and pickups, demonstrating BNP’s strong mobilisation across urban and rural fronts.
A Chhatra Dal leader from Dhaka’s Basabo noted their continuous presence in past movements, stating, “No matter the storm, we have always been on the ground. The youth will continue working under Tarique Rahman’s leadership.”
A Jubo Dal member from Gazipur added, “This rally’s main attraction is Tarique Rahman’s message to the youth. BNP is clearly prioritising the younger generation now more than ever.”
The main stage, set up opposite the BNP’s central office, hosted senior leaders including Khondaker Mosharraf Hossain, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Salahuddin Ahmed.
At exactly 4:00pm, BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman addressed the rally virtually, presenting the party’s vision for a future Bangladesh based on equality, human dignity, and social justice.
The crowd listened attentively as he outlined the party’s political roadmap, strategic direction and renewed focus on youth leadership.
Previously, similar youth-focused rallies had been held in Chattogram, Khulna and Bogura.
BNP claimed that Tuesday’s rally drew around 1.5 million attendees, most of them young people eager to reclaim their voting rights and bring democratic reforms.
