EU pledges support to ACC in recovering stolen assets

A European Union delegation on Tuesday pledged to assist Bangladesh’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in recovering the country’s stolen assets and funds from Europe.

The assurance was made during a meeting at the ACC headquarters in Dhaka, according to ACC spokesperson Aktraul Islam, Deputy Director of the commission.

The EU delegation was led by Michal Krejza, Head of Development Cooperation, and included Programme Manager of Inclusive Governance Pablo Padin Perez, along with representatives Nader Tanja and Kishower Amin.

During the meeting, the ACC briefed the delegation on its ongoing anti-corruption activities and the challenges faced in preventing money laundering and asset recovery.

Aktraul Islam noted that the discussion focused on the EU’s support to enhance the ACC’s capacity in combating corruption, particularly in the areas of money laundering prevention and asset recovery.

This collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening Bangladesh’s efforts to tackle financial misconduct and improve governance.
