Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ Collects Rs 88.69 Crore in First Week
Aamir Khan’s latest film Sitaare Zameen Par, which marks his return to the silver screen after three-year, has earned Rs 88.69 crore at the domestic box office in its first week, though collections saw a dip towards the end of the week.
The film, directed by RS Prasanna, opened with Rs 10 crore on its release day, June 20, and witnessed significant growth over the weekend, with total collections reaching Rs 60 crore by Sunday.
Sitaare Zameen Par maintained steady earnings from Monday to Wednesday, but collections dropped on Thursday.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 6.29 crore on Thursday, bringing the cumulative total to Rs 88.69 crore.
The film features Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh, Brijendra Kala, Dolly Ahluwalia, and introduces 10 debutant neurodivergent actors in key roles.
In his review, film critic Saibal Chatterjee awarded the film 3.5 out of 5 stars, praising its unique blend of comedy, emotion, and sports to highlight the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity—be it physical, mental, or social.
Sitaare Zameen Par employed new release strategies to draw audiences to theatres, but the film is expected to face stiff competition in the coming days with the release of Kajol’s Maa and Brad Pitt’s F1.
Industry analysts suggest that sustaining box office momentum will be crucial for Aamir Khan’s film as it enters its second week amid heightened competition.
