Grameenphone’s 4G internet down for an hour
Fourth generation internet service of Grameenphone was down for an hour on Wednesday causing disruption of voice and data services of about 85 million customers.
The problem was there from 4:15pm to 5:15pm while the company claimed technical glitch for the situation. During this time, many customers tried to solve the problem by restarting their mobile handsets repeatedly but failed while someone thought of a problem on devices.
A subscriber requesting anonymity said that the phone lost internet connection from 4:15pm to 5.15pm while voice calls were having problems.
“Due to technical issues, our customers experienced difficulties with our network services for some time. Our technical teams have already resolved the issues quickly. We sincerely apologise for these temporary inconveniences,” Grameenphone said in a statement.
On 23 February 2023, a disaster occurred in Grameenphone’s network. During road excavation work in Gazipur, Tangail and Sirajganj, fibre optic cables were damaged, resulting in a disconnection when the situation was normalised after about two and a half hours.
